From preparation to removal

Six steps to a cleaner finish.

Prepare the base, position your tiles and hold the alignment while the adhesive cures. Follow the sequence below alongside the video.

  1. Prepare the surface

Make sure the tiling base is clean, flat and level before you begin.

  2. Apply your tile adhesive

Choose the recommended adhesive for your tile type and spread it evenly with the appropriate trowel. Follow the adhesive manufacturer’s instructions.

  3. Lay the first tile and insert clips

Set the first tile firmly, then slide CLIP-IT® clips under its exposed edges.

Clear adhesive from around each clip at the grout line. This helps the clip break cleanly during removal.

  4. Position the adjoining tiles

Position the next tiles against the clips and maintain consistent joints. Keep excess adhesive clear of the clip area as you work.

  5. Insert and tighten the wedges

Push the wedges into the clips to hold adjoining tile edges in alignment. Tighten by hand or use the CLIP-IT® Tile Pliers for consistent pressure.

  6. Let the adhesive cure, then remove

Wait until the adhesive has cured, following the adhesive manufacturer’s curing instructions. Remove the clips along the grout line by kicking them or using the DE-CLIP-IT Hammer, as demonstrated in the video.

The hammer’s slotted end helps you remove compatible clips near walls and edges. Follow the technique shown in the tutorial.
